A new scientific committee for ELA <\/strong><\/p>\n

The scientific committee of ELA International has 15 members, experts in leukodystrophies. It is chaired by Florian Eichler<\/b>, Medical Neurologist Director of the Department of Leukodystrophies at Massachusetts General Hospital for Children \u2013\u00a0Boston, USA.<\/em>
\n<\/i>Nicole Wolf<\/strong>, neuropediatrician doctor at the VU University Medical Center of Amsterdam \u2013\u00a0Amsterdam, The Netherlands<\/em>, is the Vice President of the committee.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The scientific committee is renewed. Today\u00a0Assumpci\u00f3 Bosch<\/strong> joins the committee, she is an expert in preclinical gene therapy for diseases affecting the nervous system and also Director of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at UAB \u2013 Barcelona, Spain<\/i> and Aurora Pujol, <\/b>Professor of Genetics and Neuroscience, Medical and Laboratory Geneticist and <\/b>Director of the Neurometabolic Diseases Lab at IDIBELL \u2013 Barcelona, Spain.<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The scientific committee continues its mission to support ELA International in its research activities by providing its scientific expertise for the evaluation of projects related to the annual call for proposals.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Ukraine – ELA Scientific committee statement<\/h3>\n

\u201cThe European Leukodystrophy Association international scientific advisory board wishes to express its concern and sympathy for people and families affected by leukodystrophy and the war in Ukraine. We understand the great difficulty of taking care of children with rare disease, especially without access to proper hospital care or medicines.<\/p>\n

Our board members will endeavour to provide direct medical support to refugees as well as hospitals and healthcare providers in the region that can benefit from specialist medical advice on care of leukodystrophy patients.<\/p>\n
